Are out of state colleges worth it?

I currently live in the state of Iowa and am considering transferring to Iowa State from the UofI. However, looking at successful people from the major I plan on getting in to, not many people come from Iowa State. Nasa meteorologists and weather researchers come from Florida State, Penn State, and University of Washington. I'm strongly considering studying in Seattle. However, the tuition is three times what I would be paying here. My overall cost of attendance would double. What should I do?

  1. Ditto... save your money for grad school (your gonna need it).  And even then I'd stay in state.

You don't get a "better" education just because you crossed the state line and paid more money.... you just pay more than the student sitting next to you for the same education.

  2. where you go for undergrad isn't nearly as important as grad school- i'd save your money for then.
