Are paper clips safe for cozmo?

I bought a round mirror for cozmo ,my cockatiel. I had to use small paper clips with a coloured coatings(i think it is coated with plastic). Occasionally he chews on the paper clips, not a lor, but is this safe for him?

  1. Paper clips are frequently made from galvanized steel wire, meaning there is a zinc coating on the metal.  Zinc and lead are both toxic to birds.  In addition, your bird might possibly ingest the plastic coating.  I'd not allow him to chew on any paper clips.

  3. No I would not let him have the paper clip to chew on. Paper clips as with many metals all but stainless steel have zinc and lead in them which can be toxic to birds. It can cause seizures and lead to death in a short time. The treatment for lead and zinc poisoning is expensive also and hard on bird. Plus you do not want him to swallow it as well.
