are parakeet chirps alot yes but sometimes when we reach our hand over the cage to go put him to bed, what does that mean when hes chirping ?

  1. That is how they communicate with each other. I had at one time several hundred parakeets. It would get so loud that you couldn't even hear your own thoughts.

    Chirping can mean anything, that is their language!


  2. if you get it a mate it will be happier ,and chirp less.

    Hes happy.  They like to talk and chat with you.

    OR

    If it's angry chirping

    if you put your hand directly over the cage, he may think that youre hand is another, bigger bird, a predator, and will get mad.
