  1. No, peanuts are common in Thai dishes.  Although, many Korean dishes have a peanut-like flavor due to the fact that they are made using sesame oil which has a very distictive "peanut" taste.  Common spices/vegetables include garlic, green onions, red pepper paste and fresh ginger root.

  2. Not to my knowledge,  they're usually found in Thai foods.

  3. No.  Peanuts come from South America originally so they would not be a normal part of traditional and authentic Korean food.  There are some exceptions such as:

1)Dak Kang-jung (fried chicken with hot sauce)

2)Haddeok (Korean sweet pancakes which MAY have peanuts instead of walnuts)

    3) Anju (Korean snakfoods served with drinks, peanuts and seasoned peanuts can be found in this large variety of snackfoods)

    4)  Clear pressed peanut oil can be used in Korean cooking.

You need to be careful when visiting an Asian restaurant, many actually serve dishes from all over Asia, not just ones authentic to whatever nationality the restaurant proclaims itself to be.

China is currently the world's biggest peanut producer (it was introduced there in the 1600s by European traders).  Due to China's close proximity to Korea, peanuts are found in Korean cuisine but not commonly.

  4. Peanuts are very rare in Korean food, probably because peanuts don't naturally grow in Korea.
