  1. Yes, there's an actual birth certificate and a Declaration of citizenship. I was born on base in England. I have a birth certifcate from the base hospital and the Declaration of Citizenship.  Samanatha gave good instructions on how to get that.  I normally provide my declaration of citizenship when asked for a birth certificate.

  2. If you are a born in a United States military base, no matter which country it is in, you are issued a birth certificate and given American citizenship.

In fact, McCain was not born in the United States.  He was born in a military base.  Only because military bases count as United States territory can McCain run for the presidency.

  3. contact the embassy there..my daughter was born in 1995 in japan...she has a declaration of birth from the us embassy..there was no other birth certificate issued to us...

  4. Yes. Your husband's birth was registered with the U.S. Embassy or Consulate nearest his place of birth in Spain. So, his official birth certificate was issued by the State Department.  A copy can be obtained. Write a letter to the below address. Include the names of the birth parents, the date of birth and place of birth along with a check or money order for $30 made out to "U.S. Treasury":

    Vital Records Section

    Passport Services

    1111 19th St. NW

    Suit 510

    Washington, DC 20522-1705

  5. Yes they are issued BCs That state place of birth and American status. Check with the records archive for the military, I don't have a web site or phone number but may be someone else will, good luck.

  6. A Certification of Birth (Form FS-545 or DS-1350) or replacement of a Consular Report of Birth (Form FS-240) may be obtained by writing to:

    Passport Services

    1111 19th Street, NW, Suite 510

    Washington, DC 20522-1705

A written request must be notarized and include a copy of valid phot identification of the requester. The written request must include:

Full name of child at birth (plus any adoptive names)
