  1. There are three possibilities:

    1. Time travel is impossible. This seems to me like the most likely scenario.

    2. Time travel is possible, but requires so much energy that we will never achieve it.

    3. Time travel is possible and can be achieved with a reasonable amount of energy. Then, you can be sure that human beings will build a time machine (as long as we do not die out, whether as a result of pollution, nuclear war, a genetically engineered germ, or something like that, and as long as there is no totalitarian government which crushes all scientific progress) eventually. Don't count on it happening in your lifetime, and don't count on your descendants having time machines either - the government will undoubtedly regulate them. (Which is stupid as they are no more moral than we are.)

  2. It's just about impossible. You can never go back in time... BUT technically you can travel into the future. As you approach the speed of light, time slows down. So, if you get into something that can more at the speed of light, you could just make revolutions around the earth and your surroundings will move at regular time while you, and your craft will move slower in time.

  3. As mentioned previously, travelling into the future is possible if the speed of light is surpassed. However, the speed of light cannot be surpassed as simply humans cannot build anything to go that fast.

...But for the sake of argument, let's say we could. It would surely disintegrate as any material we have on earth would not be strong enough to handle the resistance to the forces acting upon the craft.

...But let's say we found a magic super-material. Humans couldn't possibly survive on that ride. Why? Well it's kind of like being in a car. You and the car are separate entities. You are travelling at the same speed and direction, though. When the car turns left, though, you feel yourself go right. This is because previously you were on a straight trajectory and now the car is turning left while you are still going straight, which is actually perceived as you going to the right.

If the driver steps down hard on the gas pedal, we go backwards into the seat. This is because we were previously travelling at the same speed as the car and now the car is going MUCH faster VERY quickly. We are travelling much slower than the car, so we are pushed backwards and the car pulls us eventually to the same speed.

But imagine this phenomenon on a spacecraft that can travel the speed of light. Look at how hard astronauts have to train. The speeds they go at are peanuts compared to light-speed. Our organs would simply be flattened, our ribcage would break, our face and eyeballs would simply sink backwards into our skulls - if our skulls survive for any length of time. The forces acting upon the passengers would simply be way too great to make it practical, even if we could achieve light speed.
