I've not long moved to yorkshire and there seems to be a noticeable lack of driving ability round here.

I just wondered if anyone else agreed, or whether it's just that I'm driving a bit more often than I was and the general standard is deteriorating everywhere....?

any thoughts?

  1. Lol my ex from Leeds used to curse southern drivers for being the worst on the roads! I think the general standard has fallen - no-one seems to care about good manners in anything anymore.

  2. we lowered the standard on everything.

  3. I think it's bad everywhere.

People really don't care anymore and I feel like they have a general attitude of "If you care about your car, get out of my way before I hit it".

On top of this, the driving classes and tests (especially in the states) are not nearly enough to truly teach good driving.

  4. The general standard has indeed plummeted. It's as much to do with attitude as anything else - common courtesy has gone completely out of the window.

It's a social thing, I'm afraid - particularly the English (yes, I'm English!).

  5. Hello mate..... I once bought a house in a Village about 15 miles from Bristol.....

I was totally amazed at the standard of driving, everyone drove like IDIOTS.... Drink driving was rife on a weekend, and the police did nothing or very little about it...And you could speed to your hearts content...You could get away with murder !!!

It seems to me that you only get dune for driving offences if you live in a big city.....

Anyway I have since moved back to Bristol as the roads are far safer...

  6. i drive 6 days a week the amount of people who cant see me and my workies in our buses is amazing

  7. Its not just Yorkshire there are more numptys and speeders on the road everywhere.
