  1. As the UK is now a constitutional monarchy we are British citizens as we are no longer directly answerable to the monarch. Only absolute monarchies have subjects, modern democracies have citizens.

  2. On 1 January 1983, upon the coming into force of the British Nationality Act 1981, every Citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies became either a British Citizen, British Dependent Territories Citizen or British Overseas Citizen. As a British (English) citizen, however, I hereby affirm my allegence to Her Britannic Majesty as Her Loyal Subject.

    Vivat Elizabetha Regina.

  3. Citizens, so Justin is not English, thank goodness.

  4. Born a subject.

Created a citizen by Act of Parliament.

  5. British citizens, NOT British subjects.

The British Nationality Act 1948 introduced the status of citizenship, meant to replace the status of single imperial British subject.

Later on it was formalized in more detail by the Immigration Act 1971, which was amended several times.

Then the British Nationality Act 1981 and this has been the basis of British nationality law since 1 January 1983.

I daresay not everybody currently living in England is a British citizen (based on the British Nationality Act 1981).

  6. British citizens..............

  7. Its not just the people of The UK (England, Scotland, Wales, The Isle of Mann, The Channel Islands and Northern Ireland)

Elizabeth II is also Queen of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Although we are not officially subjects  most of the population feel that we aren't just citizens either. The Queen Has a respect from her people greater than most other world leaders.

  8. Subjects!!!

  9. We're British citizens. The monarchy is no longer the overruling power, as guy before me explained in better words.

And Justin D'Hole? Justin A'hole more like. Try to have some respect and manners.
