Are people selfish? Seriously..pleassee me honest- Do you do something to get something in return...always?

My grandmother had told me several day's ago that I should be meeting them so I can get connections so later on in my life they could help me get a job or help me now. That got me thinking...she's not the only one... I remember last year..that a person had said that the don't have a single friend of which that dosn't have a purpose that he can use. NOW PLLEEASSE TELL MEE......if you do ANYTHING to get something in return...I don't know you so please don't feel embarrased...and I have a feeling that you won't be the only one who ever you are.

Not always. I am answering this question just to share knowledge. I am not getting anything out of this.

But still, I answer this question, so that when I ask some question, others also help me.

Give and take is the rule of life. But don't be selfish.

Everyone is selfish..

there is no selfless good deed...you always get something in return, even if its praise, money etc

So therefore, selfishness is part of the human condition i think. Not Necessarily a bad thing right enough.

well i think everyone bases relationships on getting something in return. it is what we all want to get which separates the so called "selfish" relationships from the "non-selfish" ones. i am friends with all of my friends because in return for the love and support i give them, they give me love and support back. without that i would not be friends with them and i think there is nothing wrong with that. i do expect that in return. however, if one has friends simply for networking is what i think is selfish and wrong. but hey who am i to judge? everyone has probably used someone before... its just a way of life.

Honestly, I consider myself to be a very selfish person. Does that mean I'm a ***** to everyone? Not at all, I don't even remember the last person I was rude to. Does that mean I never do things just to be nice? No, I do that sort of stuff, but it's because it makes me feel good to be nice to others, which is still selfish - doing something that makes ME feel good. And I always feel like people are judging me or talking about me, which I've come to realize is because I'm so self-centered, everything does NOT revolve around me, hardly anybody even notices me, they're all involved in their own stuff, which is also selfish on my part and theirs.
