Are people that ask me if I'm "Italian" making themselves sound stupid?

I'm white, but have straight black hair (not wavy like most meditteranian races, i.e. Italian), brown eyes, and I tan easily. It's as if there aren't other countries who have these features, including German Irish and as if there aren't blonde hair, blue eyed Italians (Hulk Hogan)

  1. You're making something out of nothing here. It's just simple curiosity and you are turning into an insult. There's nothing racist in the question, you are being oversensitive for no reason. EVERY American has heritage in their family which originates from another country, hence the question. Nothing more, nothing less.

  2. I was mistaken for Italian once because I talk with my hands.

If people honestly think you belong to a certain group, then I doubt they feel stupid when you tell them no. If they are saying it to be rude and sound ignorant then they have the right to feel stupid.
