Question:

Are people that think the AL is more strategic then the NL smoking too much crack?

I don't know how anyone can say the AL is more strategic and harder to manage in then the NL. The AL rarely has to do any lineup juggling, they can pull the pitcher whenever they feel like it. They have absolutely nothing strategic to do in the AL. Not to mention the DH is a joke. The game was created your 9 versus my 9. The AL is not real baseball and no person should make $40 million swinging a bat 3 times a game without ever having to take the field. How can anyone even try to make an argument for the AL?

  1. This is where I am going to kick you....We may not be strategic but something happened good during interleague play as my Twins had the best record at 14-4 and the the Total is in ALs favor not to mention the All Star game..this year in Intl play it's 149-103....When the worst AL team in Intl play goes 6-12....thats just horrible for the National league

  2. Who says the AL is easier to manage than the NL?

    Sources?

The DH maybe a joke but it's been here for awhile and it's not going away. Many people don't like pitchers running and getting hurt when they are not programed for it(like Wang for the yankees).

As for the money, well no one should make millions playing baseball anyway but fans pay that high price so they are to blame.

  3. well in the last 12 years the NL STILL HAS'NT BEATEN THE AL IN A ALL-STAR GAME....its not a cowinsidence .....

  4. I've heard close games in the National League described as "chess matches" between the managers.  Pinch-hitters, defensive switches, etc...you have to be a smart manager to be able to manipulate your line-up properly in the N.L. to win a close game.  If I were a major-league manager, I'd be lost without the ability to pull a double-switch.

The A.L. is just a battle royale between pitcher and hitter...nothing more, nothing less.  I like a baseball game with some strategy instead of just watching the two teams hug it out, thank you very much.

Whoever came up with the D.H. seriously needs to be banned from baseball for life, like Pete Rose or Shoeless Joe.  It's a disgrace to the game.

  5. its not like those allstar games have been blowouts, most are 1 run games.  And i agree, the DH pretty much makes managers in the AL worthless.  All they have to do is go by the book, so i seriously have a hard time giving credit to any american league managers.

  6. It's harder to manage in NL because the manager is making constant changes in the line up because of the pitcher's spot. How many double switches do we see in the AL in a year?? In the AL you can play your 9 hitters the whole game, in the NL you can't do that. Managing in NL definitely requires more strategy.

  7. Yea then NL is harder to manage in because they have to decide when to use pinch hitters for the pitcher, but as a NL fan i do support the DH because it's pointless watching the pitcher hit and if nobody should be paid alot to just swing a bat, than why do guys get paid alot to pitch once a week?

  8. I agree. A player should have to play offense and defense, but AL teams run into a little trouble when they are the away team at a NL teams stadium, because their pitchers can't hit, and they gotta take one of their big bats outta the lineup. I don't know why they created the DH.

  9. When the Red Sox from the AL beat the Colorado Rockies in the world series in 4 games with 2 and 3 being under NL rules since those games where in Denver, that was real baseball. The first two games in Boston, that was real baseball as well, those games counted, you just don't like the DH rule, which is all fine, but a spade is a spade.

I like the NL rules, more strategy to consider and more interesting decisions involved but I am an of a team that plays real baseball just like your Cubbies, except this team happens to be in the AL east.

If they switch to the NL, I will then be  a fan of the National League Baltimore Orioles. So I grew up like AL style baseball regardless to the fact that you don't think it's "real baseball," like most fans that grew up in and around one AL team cities.
