Question:

Are personal driving habits responsible for traffic jams in California?

People in California seem to be very discourteous to other drivers; i.e. following too close, cutting each other off, not letting others merge. Should cops be doing more to crack down on bad driving?

  1. They need to seriously crack down on it. Hardly anyone uses their turn signals on the 101 because if you use your turn signal nobody will let you in. Go figure HA!

I fly all over the place & I still have a big smile on my face when I get back home to Ca though. There is no place I'd rather be.

  2. No and yes.

It is the VOLUME of cars in this state that causes traffic jams. Habits don't affect it at all.

When I started driving, believe it or not, it was RARE to have a traffic jam. Usually, it was the result of a serious accident or other abnormal problem like roadwork.

P.S. You should try driving on the east coast if you want to see bad behavior, especially N.Y. City. Ca. drivers are light years ahead of these clowns.

  3. They should but there isnt a lot of cops 2 start with I personally live in L.A. wich is common, real common so im use 2 it and i hate wen people talkin on the phone while driving i just hate it but CA. made a law that u cant use the phone fyi. i do sometimes cut people

  4. It's the lack of proper education in drivers.. Most people are very selfish drivers.

      (1) Following to close... Slower traffic should move to the right.

      (2) Cutting each other off... Not much can be done about that other than more enforcement

      (3) Not letting other merge... Most people don't know how to use that little peddle on the left, It's called a accelerator.  I'll do my best to let you on, But if speed up to the flow of traffic, Your on your own.

It will only get worse if they hand out licenses to anyone that applies for one.
