  1. no they real medical conditions research aspergers and find out

  2. no no no

theyre not basically anything because theyre not basic

theyre very complicated and not that well understood

the cause depends on the particular personality disorder

theyre regarded as being very difficult to treat.  you cant cure a disordered personality any more than you can cure any other personality

borderline PD is considered the most difficult one to treat

  3. It's not, really, expressing yourself correctly that is the issue. In fact, they often can express themselves just fine. It's just what they are expressing (what they are feeling/doing/etc) that is the problem. It is definately not that they cannot focus on the here-and-now.

Personality is a pattern of thoughts and behavoirs, included behavoiral and subjective reactions to situations (i.e. extroverted, introverted) and how your perceptions (of self and other) are biased. A personality disorder is when these patterns are... wrong somehow - very different from the norm AND cause harm or distress to the person. They develop usually in adolescence, but not from any one factor, and it's not dwelling on it that causes it - because they are fixed patterns there's no need to dwell, they just come along into the here-and-now with you, quite unconciously. They are extremly pervasive and some of the hardest disorders to cure.
