i live in a house with my girlfriend and our 4 birds. 2 cockatiels and 2 parakeets. yet i seem to feel like its the birds house and i just live in it. they fly all over the house going and shitting wherever they please. i have brand new couches that are stained with little white spots, you cant sit on one couch because it is covered by a sheet so the birds can look out the window? this is all fine and normal according to my girlfriend... i hate it. i like the birds alot, it was my idea to get them, along with cages for them to live in. i dont mind them being out a little bit but not roaming the entire house like they do. the other day i was making lunch and sat my bread on the countertop, right in a little pile of fresh bird poo. normal? acceptable? i think not. Am i being a jerk by putting my foot down? we have a baby on the way and i dont want her crawling around, picking up bird **** on her lip and playing in it or eating it. am i out of line here or what??? thanks.

  1. its normle for a bird....... but yea.. its nasty... u should put the birds in a room with no windows or atleast close the window.......  then let them fly around in there.......

  2. No it isn't normal. There are so many things that a bird can get into while he is free flying the house. I wouldn't put my bird in that position. She is asking for greif. It will happen sooner or later as long as they free fly.

  3. if it really bothers you, take your birds to a local vet and have the wings clipped so they dont fly, and you can buy a bird play gym which is easy to assemble, and keeps the birds occupied with little toys and trinkets, and they will be pooping on something thats meant to be pooped on. mirrors keep budgies REALLY occupied, and cockatiels like to shred things, so rip strips of newspaper up and braid them. cockatiels will chew it apart
