Question:

Are phantom tetras fin nippers?

i was asking because i wanted a fighter

in my tank and the problems with the fighters are other fish nipping at their fins

will they be ok with a betta/fighter in the tank? thanks

  1. red and black phantom tetras are aggressive but they also need a low water temperature  of no higher than 73f or 23c so yes they can nip at other fish  


  2. Tetras by their nature are docile, schooling fish.  They will become aggressive if the tank is too small, or if they have to defend their social rank to newbies in your tank.

  3. Phantom tetras are peace ful schooling fish for any aquarium,they like hiding places such as rocks and plants and caves,drift wood provides this fish with a sense of security,they will breed occasionally in an aquarium setting,and a breeding tank is necessary,

    they are a schooling fish so should get on with most fish!
