Are pictures over-rated?

Ok, Here is the deal. This for all the people who "claim" that they have seen a UFO. but no "Proof". Just to let you know Kodak did make a camera and there are all kinds of them around today. So why dont you take a picture, and post it somewhere so we all can see it and answer your questions without thinking you had been drinking some kool-aid?

  1. Photos are of course very useful for explaining and describing what you saw, but unfortunately nowadays with digital cameras and digital editing there is a lot of doubt on any photo offered as evidence of something extraordinary (such as a UFO or Bigfoot), and rightfully so. It's extremely easy to create photo or video hoaxes. So in addition to the photo, you need some way of confirming that the photo was legit, information on where it was taken and under what conditions, etc., and then it will have more credibility. On Yahoo Answers, however, we really don't have the resources to do this kind of background checking.

  2. If you've been looking at this section..or even our Resolved Questions..you'll see that there are some on here who won't believe ANY pictures. We just had a picture on here the last day or so...but it definitely was a fake. After having several fakes..it would be really hard for any of us to believe a picture..or a video. There are plenty of videos on the net..but you don't see anyone getting excited about any of them.Nobody trusts them anymore since technology is has taken over and people know how to make fake pictures and videos. But I'm sure you already know this. But thanks for the "late night" question! I have insomnia and I was getting bored..with no one asking questions (except another insomniac) ..and I can't think of any more questions to ask! lol

    Edit..oops..I meant "early morning" question!!

  3. some are some are not.

  4. No matter how much proof people can give you about UFOs and other paranormal occurences, a doubter will still find some way to "disprove" what is occurring beyond our understanding as humans.

  5. Because of the fakes issue that existed as long as cameras did (Remember those long school photo's in black and white? - It was common for thoose at the start to run to the other end - and be in the same photo -twice!) - We do not fully believe any photo or video we see.

So, unless we see it with our own eyes, we will not believe it.

Unfortunately - as so many ghost stories are far fetched, this too is not reliable enough to us.

We are then left to chose between whether to believe it or not - irrispective of any photo's. - back to Faith again !!!

  6. I've never seen a convincing photo of anything paranormal.UFO photos are always obvious fakes.I can't say how to tell a real photo if it comes along.I think like pornography, we'll know it when we see it.

  7. I guess with today's technology it's just too easy to fake a picture.  I'm more interested in video footage from several video cameras at several angles.  This way you could synchronize the cameras at playback and see if the UFO acts the exact same in all the shots.  This would almost completely eliminate the suspicion of fraud, at least as far as the videos themselves go.  You would still have to convince me that the UFO is real.

  8. Another psuedoskeptic joins YA.  Apparently the psuedoskeptics carry a camera with them 24/7 just in case they see something that they know can't exist so they can offer photographic evidence of it the world.

Photographs, especially digital ones that do not produce a permanent record are not proof (which does not exist anywhere in science) nor are they good evidence of anything. There are some digital cameras (still and video) that use one time DVD/CD's that can't be written over that would be acceptable. However, for my part I still film that produces negatives. Of course one would have to examine the original image to offer an informed opinion.

Also, the circumstances (where, when, who, why) of the picture(s) are important to help establish the likelihood of the story being legit behind the photo.

Summary, yes modern day digital pictures are overrated because in reality they are useless as evidence.

  9. for real cuz... i was watchin sum **** last night about abductions... those chicks was weird like "they probed me" and they didnt even know if there were 2 or 3 and one of the chicks said they raped her, cuz, she got gang banged by aliens, YEA OKK!

  10. UFO's are real, people get pictures all the time.  The question is what are they.  It's like the saying " If you hear hoof beats it most likely horses, not zebras".  I've seem a UFO and my first idea was that it was a new military craft.
