Are pixos the new aqua dots?

I saw a commercial for pixos and they were the same things as aqua dots. Are they made by the same people? Did they just change their name after the aqua dots recall?

  1. I bought Aquadots for my kids last summer and asked for a replacement when they were recalled. After almost a year, this week I got an email from them saying that they were sending the new product, and it is Pixos. I don't know what I'll do with a bunch of dots. I've already thrown away the machine that came with the original (drug-filled) Aquadots.

    Here is the full email:

    Dear Kelly,

Pixos™ is a brand new product that offers the same great play, but with an entirely new bead formulation and industry-leading safety standards developed in association with a team of chemists, toxicologists and leading toy-testing firms.  We apologize for the delay, but hope you'll agree that it's been worth the wait.  And that wait is soon over!

  2. yeah I think they changed the name, but on the commercial it says safety tested so they changed the name and made them better.

  3. We feel that they are.  Even the song is the same.  My daughter is screaming at me, "No they're safety tested," because it says that on the screen.

The long-and-the-short of it is that it appears they fixed the issue and reissued them under a different name.

Last link reports that a cheap chemical replacement for what was supposed to be in the original Aqua Dots was what turned out to be toxic to the children who ingested them.

  4. yes, but i wouldn't consider buying them, they may say safety tested, but alot of toys these days from china say they are but theyre really toxic.

  5. Pixos are not the exact same thing as aqua dots. they look the same but are safe tested and will not harm anyone.
