are the ploice allowed to tell the person who has made a statment against the other person if they are going to be charged or not

  1. Most information about an arrest is public record. Some local newspapers even print the information in a police blotter.

    When I take someone to our county jail, I complete a booking slip. There is a box for victim information, and a question that states "Would victim like to be contacted when the person is released?"
