Okay a hypothetical situation. Lets say someone in Canada 200 yards from the US boarder is being violently attacked and there happens to be a American police officer. Is he or she authorized to use lethal force against the attacker if need be? Technically he or she would no longer be in the jurisdiction of the United States correct? So how does that work out?

  1. Interesting question. It's not so much a matter of legality. It's a matter of how sorry it would look if you didn't act. I have to say, though, that a lot would depend on the exact circumstances and the normal level of violence on the other side. Going into Mexico, for instance, to act might be something you wouldn't want to do, for a lot of reasons, including historical.
