sometimes they can be happy or sometimes they can be cranky and stubborn, they are like people, they sometimes have their off days, you can tell by their body language, if their ears are flat back than they are not happy, study your ponies body language and you will see how it feels

It depends on the individual pony.  As the other answerer said, some of the most awkward, pig-headed, stubborn creatures I have ridden have been ponies.  But equally some of the nicest, most obedient and well-mannered animals have been ponies too!

One of the most ill tempered, mean, smart, stubborn, and un-ridable horse-types  I;ve ever known was a pony. There are also nice ponies but always happy - no.

no. now a days there is so much attention paid to ponies in the horse show ring. they then can become overwhelmed with their job in competing in 2 day horse shows. btu if they are not they are usually rewarded with treats and become a little spoiled. most ponies now a days are fresh and like to bite, not because they are unhappy, because they have an attitude and are spoiled.
