Question:

Are portable GE potscrubber dishwashers considered energy efficient?

I'm thinking of buying one from someone, but I am concerned about energy efficiency for any appliance that I purchase. I can't seem to find information on gallons per load or kwh per year on this appliance, and don't know their overall reputation for reliability and energy efficiency. If anyone knows something I don't, please inform me. Thanks!

(PS...I don't know the year the appliance was made, or the model number. Sorry.)

  1. I guess the really energy efficient thing to do would be compost the leftovers and take your dishes out to the back yard and scrub them with sand??

But realistically, from  what I read before we got our (first ever) dishwasher last year,  if you have a dishwasher that allows you to scrape plates instead of rinsing before you load them, and you let your dishes airdry instead of using the heated dry, and you only run full loads, it will use less water than hand washing.  But you will also use more electricity.  That's in general.

Your potential dishwasher should have a badge on the back  or inside with model # and serial #, and then maybe you could get specific info from GE's website.

If it's Energy Star rated it will probably have the Energy Star logo on it.

  2. if it says energy star than yes. most these days are.
