Are pre-ap classes the same as AP classes?

Yes, I know with AP classes you have to take the AP exam at the end of the year, and if you pass you earn college credit.

I'm asking because there was this summer reading list/project that I don't remember if I have to do.

And it's titled 'For AP English Students'

I think I'm going to be in English 3 pre-ap.

So, would I have to do it?

I know I pretty much answered my own question, but I'd rather ask other people.

Because I'm a nervous wreck not knowing if I have to or not.

  1. Since your class is preparation for AP, rather than an actual AP, I would say you don't need to do it. If you decide to do it anyways, I'm sure it would be great preparation for AP level work. Good luck!

  2. Nah mate, pre-ap is more like a preparation for AP (usually found in junior-high schools, not high school, so I'm a bit struck by that). Anyways, pre-ap should be like an honors class if I'm not mistaken, which should enable you to receive a G.P.A point more than a normal class. So....basically no, they're not the same.

  3. not the same
