  1. I was told to take prenatal vitamins all the time that they are the best vitamin a female can take.  But if you want to get pregnant you also need to take Folic Acid for 3 months before you start trying.

  2. Ive heard it is ok. especially while tryin to conceive. you need the extra folic acid.

  3. I took prenatal vitamins before actually conceiving because I heard it would help. It didn't actually help me become pregnant at the time (I didn't conceive until a year later, but it's a complicated story...) but they give you lots of extra vitamins so it can't hurt! The only thing is, I've heard that they can cause constipation in a lot of women, so if they have this effect on you it might not be worth it. I say go for it, and if they agree with you it can't hurt anything! Good luck!

  4. They won't help you conceive any faster, but I have been told by many doctors that if there is any chance you may get pregnant, it's a good idea to take pre-natal vitamins.

  5. You already got a good mommy trait...thinking ahead.  Yes taking prenatals before you have even started TTC(trying to concieve).  3 months before is the best, so you aregetting enough folic acid (there is extra colic acid in the prenatal vitamins).  It helps to build strong spine  the baby.

The other thing is when you have a baby you might think, well I am not pregnant and now I have these"prenatal

Vitamins.  But just keeping taking them until your done the bottle.

    Good luck

  6. Yes it's fine.

Doc's recommend you start taking them (esp folic acid) a good 3 months before trying to conceive.

  7. here's one way to look at it..... if they are good to take when you ARE pregnant why wouldn't they be good to take when your not????  your supposed to start taking them around 3 months before conception to ensure the folic acid is well in place when you become pregnant.

  8. i take prenatal vitamins myself even though im not pregnant. They are very good for your hair, skin and nails. My hair grew at least and inch when i started taking them. Its fine to take them when non pregnant.

  9. Yes, this is an excellent idea. Your partner can take them as well to boost his fertility and health.

  10. well it can be, if your pharmacist say so..

  11. You could take them for the folic acid but be careful of the iron content in them. Some prenatal vitamins contain extra iron and that could potentially harm you and your baby. Ask the doctor or your pharmacist.

  12. It's not only ok, it's recommended, and make sure it includes folic acid. If you don't want to take the prenatal vitamin (because sometimes they cause nausea), make sure you're at least taking the folic acid, and then go see your doctor about a prenatal that's gentler. I had to try a prescription one (PregVit).

The reason is that you're usually six weeks or so pregnant before you know it, and it's important from the time of conception (actually, for a month before conception) that your fetus receive the benefits of the folic acid to help prevent spina bifida. I'm sure if you talk to your family doctor, they'll recommend you take it.
