  1. Legitimate or not, you aren't going to buy a car without paying them.

    Processing fees are a way for the dealership to pay his expenses for creating all the paperwork it takes to process your sale, warranty and loan.  They have the right to collect reimbursements for money they spend taking care of that paperwork. Dealerships have a large staff of employees behind the scenes that earn a living off of processing that paperwork.
