Are protists and protozoa the same?

  1. Basically, yes.  The single celled organisms that are not bacteria are nowadays called protista.  Protozoa means First Animals which is not really a vaild name so we no longer use it.  Protista is the prefered name for microscopic organisms as they are not really either animals or plants.


  2. Answer 1 is good

    Protozoan refers to animals, they can move around because they have flagella or cilia or pseudopods.

    Protists are just one celled and include plant like and animal like. the plant like may be able to photosynthesize, they can not move around.

    They are not the same. You could say protozoans are in the group protists.
