  1. No because there is both a concentric (up) and eccentric (lowering) portion of the exercise. Isometric has only a concentric portion. It is my opinion that the eccentric motion causes as much or more of the muscle growth so eliminating it is shooting yourself in the foot. Perhaps a true exercise physiologist can step in.

  3. nope..they contain both eccentric and concentric muscular contractions.  isometrics are when muscles are activated but they are neither lengthened or shortened such as when flexing a muscle or static contractions
