  1. I find these types of questions very interesting.  I have performance expectations of all of my employees and so does your boss at your job.

Your problem seem to be that it means that as a LEO - you may get a ticket.  I have been out there for 24 years and have never had a problem finding a violation to write or find an arrest - you just have to patrol and look.

Quotas are bad - if unreasonable - but telling police officers to go out and write tickets and make arrests is what you want - right???  I'm sure it is - because I've seen many complaining about them at the 7-11 or donut shop.  So make up your minds please.

  2. Of course not, Majority of the arrest are illegal in reguards to the U.S. Constitution

  3. No,

the cops call it "productivity" now....

  4. Yes.  One definition is, a proportional share.  Everyone must carry their own weight.

  5. Regardless of what people think, police departments do not have quotas!!!!!  They are not handed a ticket book and told to write 20 tickets or empty the ticket book, they are told to go out and enforce the traffic laws.  Just look at the people driving around you......you see constant breaking of the traffic laws everytime you drive.....so its not hard for them to write lots of tickets during a shift.  Are they illegal, no.

  6. They are not legal. Been ruled on a while back.

I've never been told to write more tickets, but have been told to write less (WTF?). Same with arrests.

Contrary to popular believe PDs actually lose money on citations (as do the courts etc).

As for getting promoted for writing more tickets, not at my dept. Depts like officers who don't get complaints. More tickets=more BS complaints that supervisors have to deal with.

  7. Are quotas legal?      NO!

But coppers and brown nose-rs of coppers will say it NEVER happens when in actuality it does!!!
