  1. I love animals

  2. Cappy ~ good analogy.

I always think of cats as female and dogs as male.

  3. Dogs are like children:  dependent, easily entertained, happy to see you, willing to please and obey.  Dogs are high energy and high maintenance.  Dogs are great if you have the time to provide them the attention and exercise they require.  I like dogs but I don't have one right now because I don't want to have to walk it.  I prefer having dogs when I either live in the country or have a fenced yard.

Cats are like teenagers:  independent, aloof, curious, interacting with you only on their terms, unconcerned about your happiness.  Cats have playful times, but are less energetic, and require less attention and maintenance which I like.  They use litter boxes and don't need to go out.  I own two cats and each has their own personality traits.  One follows me around like a shadow and is quite playful, but dislikes being touched too much.  The other loves to curl up and be petted.
