  1. rabits are so cute.

  2. Rabbits are a ton more work than hamsters and a lot more expensive to keep.  To keep a rabbit properly needs :

Variety of fresh daily veggies in addition to hay and pellets

4 hours minimum out of cage exercise

    Daily litter changes

    Yearly vet visits for checkups

    Needs to be spayed./neutered

Should be kept in pairs or groups

Needs a very large cage or pen

They are not a low-maintenance pet, plus when properly cared for they live 10-20 years.  If your parents don't want a rabbit, they are not going to want one when you go away to college and can't take it with you.  What will happen then?  They are a huge commitment and take a lot of work to keep happy and healthy.  Plus, they are not what most people expect in a pet.  Most are not cuddly and they don't like to be picked up.

  3. A little, yeah. Especially if they're tamed and very friendly. I have both a rabbit and hamster and both are very attention seeking and loveable and cuddly.; But because the rabbit is awake alot more, he demands alot more attention while my hamster only really demands attention in the evening. Both are brilliant but Syrian hamsters (the bigger ones) can be tamed and once tame, can't become untame ever again while rabbit's can become untame and neeed cuddling and picking up everyday if you want them to stay friendly and cuddly. Of course, I play and cuddle my hamster everyday as well.

Rabbits also cost abit more to keep compared to hamsters:

    Home:

Rabbit: Hutch = £60 + (Mine is worth £120 + but we got it second hand for £60.)

    Hamster : Home = £30 +

    Food:

About the same but rabbits eat more over time.

    Accessories:

Rabbits abit more but if you spoil hamsters they are about even.

    And alot more.

And remember - not all rabbits and hamsters are all cuddly and sit on your lap forever! (Although mine do) But both are fantastic to own. But if I ever go on holiday I will have to arrange for my rabbit to go to someone who will cuddle it everday.

    Good luck!

  4. As an owner of both, I would definitly say rabbits are more work. And because the kick and bounce and run around their cage ( which btw can't be a tank, it must be a large enclosure) they tend to scatter their poops from here to there. They can be messy, and need daily spot cleaning.

They need daily excersize outside of their cage, mine run around the house chasing after my 5 cats. The constantly need chews,toys,hay..

You can find some good information at the house rabbit society online.

  5. Not at all!!

Both need basically the same work.

Hamster - Cage inside the house, will need water bottle attached. Place to shelter/nest, be tamed + petted, a ball to roll around in and somehere to use it, mix of hamster food and fresh fruit and veg.

    Bedding-wood shavings, hay or cotton.

Rabbit - Hutch, preferbaly to sections, one to sleep and one for day, bottle fixed on side, a run or supervision whilst in garden, mix of rabbit food, and fresh fruit and veg( will also graze when let out of hutch)

    Beddings-Wood shavings and hay.

Rabbits however, like company of other rabbits, same s*x if from same litter, opposite s*x if not, but must be neutered!!!!!! As long as you spend alot of time with your rabbit though, should be ok.

Hamsters like to live on their own.

They both need their living space cleaned the same amount ( Pull out all dirtied/soiled bedding and replace everyday, and clean properly once a week )

  6. hi, well ive never had hamster but i have 3 rabbits n 4 baby bunnies.....but i think bunnies are alot sweet-er. good luck

  7. They need more attention & make more noise.....if you get a male and don't alter him, he'll spray and that stinks. They are a bit more work, but they're more loyal, and you can walk them, teach them agility, sleep with them, they can be litter box trained....

If you get a bunny, get a female...

    Good luck! :)

  8. not so much but they require a  larger cage and they are bigger so they need a bigger bowl, bigger water bottle, more food, more water, more bedding, more space & more attension. Hamsters you can hold pet but most bunnies like being peted but not being held so much. I only really hold my bunnies if i am taking them on the grass.
