Question:

Are rabbits supposed to itch themselves a lot?

My bunny frequently stops to bite all over her body and she brings her back foot up to scratch her face and ears. I thought it was normal for rabbits to do this, but I read somewhere that if a rabbit scratches itself a lot, it most likely has fleas.

Are there any symptoms from having fleas other than scratching?

Also, what can I do to keep my bunny flea-free?

THANK YOU! =)

  1. Fleas are visible, so go over her fur with an old comb or something and look for little bugs. It could also be mites or lice. Lice you can also usually see, mites you cannot.

  2. You should be able to see the fleas one the bunny. Put cedar chip in it's cage fleas don't like the smell. you can also bath your bunny.

  3. Some scratching is normal. You'd be able to see fleas and flea dirt. Check inside your bunny's ears for mite debris.
