i was about to install my new wheel when a friend mentioned it may not be legal in Vermont. I wouldn't want to put the work in and then get a ticket for it.

  1. Obviously some people don't even know what a steering wheel is from the first two answers!

It may be legal, but not if the car was produced with airbags, then it is illegal to remove the airbag to instal the wheel.

  2. The wheels (the metal parts) are not the concern.  It is the tires (rubber) that are the tires.

Many racing tires are not safe for street use (mostly not enough thread).

    Good Luck....

  3. If air bag were stock no if it is a older car yes but some of those after market steering  wheels  are not very good and makes it harder to steer

  4. yes it is legal as long as the vehicle does not have an airbag mounted in the original steering wheel then you can replace it with an aftermarket steering wheel

  5. I am also a vehicle inspector and in Texas racing steering wheels are legal as long as the comply with the required state diameter.

You should contact your local department of motor vehicles and ask them first if they are and second if yes then what the diameter needs to be.

  6. well, its depend ,if its a metal parts well its not. but just always observe the rubber parts...go race!!!safe
