Question:

Are receipts designed to disintegrate on purpose!?

I've noticed store receipts like the ones from Walmart (probably printed on thermal paper or something similar) seem to be easily destructable. The receipt will start to blacken, or the print will fade over time. They don't have a long life span. Even a bit of moisture or heat will ruin the receipt quickly.

I was wondering if they do this on purpose so you wont have proof of your purchase for long...

  1. Good question!  If I have an important purchase, I make a copy of my major receipts and staple the original to it.  Then I file it in my receipt folder.

I've had a lot of them fade away too.  Maybe they are doing this on purpose?
