are recycled products sanitary? it would seem like they're not since they're made from old newspapers and what not...

  1. The federal government controls conditions under which "post consumer products" are made. Glass has been recycled for food use for longer than I've been alive (7 BC.) So if they are used for food they are supposed to be sanitary. You trust the government, don't you...


  2. Yes, of course they are.  All materials headed for recycling are cleaned and sterilized prior to the recycling process.  The same sanitary standards are applied to the resulting products as are applied to non-recycled products.
