Question:

Are red chilli enchaladas more of a Northern Mexican (desert area) dish, or are they more common in S. Mexico?

Southern Mexico being more a jungle climate, and Northern being either desert or steppe.

  1. You know, I got in this debate just a few days ago and a very interesting one it was indeed.  To make a long story short...it is more central Mexican than anything else.  The real debate is whether or not it is more north central or south central.  That, we may never know.


  2. I dont know but i love green chilli enchiladas with chicken, sour cream, cheese and a COKE.

  3. geauxgid is right....... there are enchiladas almost anywhere in Mexico (mostly around the central plateau), and you can find them both red and green so I don't think there's a place where they're more or less popular. The most famous ones are enchiladas potosinas (from san luis potosi state) and also those made in Michoacan state (placeras), and both are red. Both states are in the central part of the country.....
