Are reported cases of remembered past lives usually in the same country or cultural group?

When children reportedly remember past lives, how much of that do you think is due to cultural learning? Are there cases of remembered past lives in different countries, or even (if life on other planets exists) elsewhere?

From my reading there does seem to be some cultural issues. It is difficult to place these in proper perspective. For instance people in western cultures (US & Europe) don't accept this phenomena so it is often discouraged in children and rarely reported to researchers. On the other hand in India it is readily believed and parents go to some length to see if they can confirm their childrens reports.

The best work to date on this subject was done by Ian Stevenson, M.D. (deceased) and his work continues at the University of Virginia (link below).

I had a past life regretion where I saw myself in the far past- Medieval period,  don't know when exactly, but got the feeling it was Europe between late 1400's and 1600's due to my dress and surroundings.

There's a lot in print about the issue.  Studies I consider valid and you probably don't because of our different belief systems.

In general it breaks down to several different types of past life/reincarnation experiences.  When it happens immediately following death it seems to be prone to happen in a child being born 100 miles away, or less, within a few hours of the death.  Usually as soon as the kid can talk he/she starts expressing the 'what's going on here?', who are you folks? thing.  Those are among the most studied cases.

I can't recall the names of the books carrying those studies, but there have been several written by the MDs who did the studies.  If you're interested enough to want to check out the books I can try to dig up the titles and authors.

Maybe the other questions you've asked can be answered in the tome below.  It's a pretty fair piece of work.
