i have voted now for 50 years, i have voted for both sides of the fence...i have liked over the years certain views from both sides.. i believe that as of today i stand as an independent....i was leaning towards republican this time until 3 months ago he starts talking about his social security plan, i switched.....what i am tired of hearing however is the stories about how un patriotic, un religious the democrats are.. this goes on and on over the years, i wish that the dems would finally stand up, roll up their sleeves, grow a back bone and defend it's faithful with a little aggression....i do not understand why they do not get down and dirty on an equal basis....what are your thoughts?

  1. Voting along party lines is not the smart way to decide;  I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat, nor any other party.  I am an AMERICAN, and I will vote according to the candidate's stance on important issues and whether or not he is a Christian, which is WHY our forefathers came here in the first place, to worship GOD, because they did not have the freedom in England.  To vote that kind of thing out of our government is to make us a heathen nation.  If McCain is not a Christian and Obama is, then Obama gets my vote, and vice versa.  If neither is, then I will vote on the issues.  If both are, issues again.

  2. Both sides are just as capable of demonstrating the good and the bad among their citizens.  I can't say which is overwhelmingly better or worse.

I am a Republican and I am somehwat dumbstruck that they don't attack these claims of lacking patriotism either.  How much would it hurt for Democrats to deck out their conventions and speeches with American flags, say the pledge etc.... it is simple stuff to 'prove' something.  No need to get down and dirty, just do the same so it becomes a non-issue.

  3. I agree that there are too many stereotypes that certainly aren't true. One is that Dems all want to help the poor and that Repubs only care about the rich. That's kind of stupid when 50% of the country are republicans but less than 5% of them are "rich." I know many people from both parties. I have Dem co-workers who could care less about poor people and are the most racist and mean people I know. I know Republicans who give of their time and money to charity and truly care about people. . . and vice versa. Not all Repulicans are pro-life, against g*y marriage and in favor of the war. I'm not, but I know that conservative economic principles work.

  4. I view myself as a great citizen and i am democrat.  How can you defend such a ridiculous notion that you dont love your country if you dont vote republican?  Its nonsense, but it is the only thing that the Republicans have right now.  They do not have any policies that have worked for the past 8 years, and they dont have any new ideas for policies.  Why do I describe myself as a good citizen, because i donate to the church, to local charities, and i do not believe that we should start an unprovoked war with another country based on propaganda and lies.  I am proud that the democrats have taken the high road and not stooped to the republicans level and gotten "dirty".

  5. republicans = devils.

look at every bush, now mccain?!! then he picks plain as his vp and she hasnt taken much time in shoing us shes a real REPUBLICAN (=devil).

even though i see dems as little kids gettin bullied by the reps i still think theyre the ones that would help the country. mr. clinton & president. obama are 100times better than bush+mccain.

  6. My thoughts? The Democrats are amateurs in this game...and I decided do I really want to keep casting my lot with losers? Sure Democrats MIGHT love the country as much as Republicans do but it is a naive and misguided love...and also a love filled with self loathing and guilt...I had an epiphany about 3 years back and realized my welfare and the country's lies with the Republicans...Democrats need to do a wake up and a shake down of their hierarchy...or do they just enjoy pissing and moaning every time they lose again?

  7. I have also voted both sides and while I lean a little right, I still don't really believe one overall party is better than the other. What I hate right now is the constant bashing and slandering from each party. No - I don't like Obama, but I am not a big fan of McCain either. I just think both parties are bull-s**t because they can't stand on their own, they can only focus on bringing down the other party. And yes - I think both sides lie to let us hear what they want us to hear.

    Sad really . . .

  8. I'm Christian, but I'm very liberal. I think that some try to tell the other side that we can be liberal yet relgios, and we get eye rolls, and burn in h**l comments. I hate Bible Thumpers. I'm happy they are so into their relgious stances. However, not everyone in this Country is Christian. How can we say what is wrong against the Bible, is wrong in the country?Isn't that personal?

I also wear an armband that says heres to the heros. It's camo colored. I SUPPORT the troops. I respect them. I could never do what they do. I love my country. I say the pledge and mean it. I sing along to our Anthem. I LOVE the USA. But just because I don't support the reasons why we went to Iraq, I am wrong. I am unpatriotic. I don't like Bush, so that means I want anarchy. Why? I can't have different thoughts and views?

I also don't get this whole Dems. are all about censorship, and communist ways. Why? Because I want Homosexuals to have the right to get married? Because I think that a women's choice is just that? I support murder according to that. I would never have one. But just becaus eI see it that way, I can't push my views on others.

SO that's a very basic view I have. I don't see why I'm a horriable, anti relgion, anti American. But that's what I'm pegged as. Nice.

  9. Being affiliated with a certain party doesn't make anyone better than anyone.  It makes us feel secure because we know that there are people out there that feel like we do.

That being said, I do get awfully tired of the high and mighty righties undermining what Dems feel just because it doesn't correlate to their feelings.  Just because it may not affect you, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

  10. I don't believe social security should be a factor.  Social security, along with other social programs, were implemented as part of FDR's "New Deal" solutions to addressing post-depression America.

Those social programs were meant to provide assistance to America's citizens in the aftermath of the most devastating financial period in our country's history.  However, the programs were not discontinued after their purpose had been served.  Rather, these programs led to American's and immigrants holding to a sense of entitlement- the government SHOULD give me money...

Rather than worry about sustaining these social programs,  I believe more people should look at the long-term effect they have had on the economic performance of our government.  Further, I believe people should let go of this sense of entitlement.  It is not your government's job to provide for your well-being, it is yours.

I believe the Dems don't get "down and dirty" because they are the ones who defend these detrimental programs.  To address any REAL issue in the country should involve a deep, hard look at social programs- we all know dems aren't going to do that.

  11. The Reps are no more religious than the Dem's. They just tend to hide behind it and wave it as a diversionary flag a whole lot more! ;-)=

  12. i am a moderate republican and i haven't voted for a democratic candidate for a long time.  I am not about pro-life or about religion but I am about economics and our country.

The democrats will cater to everyone but in reality it cannot work.  They can support some programs but not all of them without having the rest of us pay for it.  The more they spend the more taxing on our economy and on our current plans.

You will get Social Security ... it is highly likely I will not.  But at the rate Obama wants to spend you may think he is looking out for you but you may not get it if they spend it all, too.

It is almost impossible for Obama to sustain the economy with all the programs he is introducing.

Sometimes free isn't really free (because someone has to pay for it)

Sometimes free isn't always the best (because the quality isn't going to be there)

    Just think about it.
