Are retro twin fin fish surfboards really fun and good boards?

im 5'11 and 150 pounds and want to get this 6'0 fish twin fin and really wide surfboard. Im kind of a beginner/intermediate rider. I mean Ive had a 6'6 fish and 8'0 longboard for about 6 months but still not very good. Can I surf this board in all conditions? thanks for all the help. Live in Socal

  1. All I ride are retro fish boards in all types of wave conditions so I would say yes they're great.  Check out 9:Fish Surfboards.  All they do is make fishes and have a really nice line.  If you're not sure if it's a good fit for you, you should send them an email.  They do demo's in various locations in SoCal.

  2. It is a different style of surfing. That kind of board is real loose and needs to be worked to get going, it is not like a thruster that creates speed just with the fin set up. If you can get up and pop right to your feet in most conditions you should be ok. If I were you though, I would master the stuff you have now before you change boards again. When you get to the point where you say, "Man, this thing's just not working for me..." then consider an upgrade.
