Question:

Are right front tires going to be a major factor in determining the Daytona races this weekend?

Actually Car18 that is where my question stems from. Kurt said that Goodyear can't make a tire hard enough to hold up to the camber and the weight they need to run on these tires here. That leads to the question has it been a problem for any other drivers yet?

  1. I wonder what Dario's doing this weekend...

  2. Kurt Busch lost a front right tire in practice, (I assume that is where your question stems from) given he was the only one, it may have had to do with his camber, or he may have just ran over something. Too early to make a judgment. Goodyear has been real conservative all year with their tires, so I don't think it will be an issue.

  3. A major factor in winning the race at Daytona this weekend will be... the drivers right foot. (sounds like a suspension or chassis issue to me. I'ld bend the frame rails and see if the NASCAR n***s could figure it out! )

  4. Well considering Kurt Busch blew a right front during practice I think tire management and care is going to be an issue. They were trying to run a full tank on one set of tires, and if they cant do that during the race, every team is going to have some problems. Then again it could be th way he set up his car with the chassis and the air pressure, etc. I think he was the only one to have problems with this during practice, however, I believe the teams will change tires and much as possible, yet they are only given so many sets of tires so I feel that this could be an issue during the race. I will like to see how each of the teams handle this though.

  5. in an interview during the rained out second practice, kurt was saying that he thinks he must be something penske (in particular his team) must be doing as they have had far more problems than most this year. and they have - he's blown more front rights than all of jgr put-together - and they haven't been easy on their tires by any means...

  6. Not if the teams follow the guidelines set down by Goodyear.

  7. Well considering the track, has not been resurfaced since '79) and the way the cars are setup the right front tire takes  the most abuse during the race.Tony had choice words about the tires tn Febuary and well nothings changed.

  8. Probably not. The banking should cut down on the camber set ups and the torque, saving the right fronts.

  9. I doubt it, but it really depends on the setup the driver has on his car.
