  1. They are fine. I'm in Thailand and eat off street carts all the time... Dont Worry!

  2. Actually they are not.It is best if you avoid them. However the human body has an internal immunity which keeps kills germs. Most of the times this food is infested with bacteria that our immunity can handle. However if sometime you eat something really contaminated you will fall sick. You can even get diseases like typhoid, gastroenteritis etc..

  3. It's entirely a matter of trial and error. There is no consistent quality norm being followed by roadside vendors, so you may find one guy keeping his wares healthy and safe, and another using whatever materials are cheapest.

The best approach is to go by reputation - go to vendors who are popular and known to serve good food. Also keep a close watch on your own digestion and breathing the day after you try an unknown vendor. If you notice any irregularity or upset, don't go to that vendor again and tell your friends about it.

  4. generally, food from unlicensed hawkers should not be eaten because they might not conform with hygiene regulations during preparation of food and even the ingredients.

But by safe, if you loosely mean that you won't die from it, then yes, it is safe. The most you might get is food poisoning and/or tummy discomfort and/or diarrhoea.

  5. If they are not rotten and are cooked thouroughly, then technically yes.

    but i wouldn't do it...

  6. yes. depends on ur resistance power.

  7. If you have a death wish or love to spend most of your day inside a bathroom I say go for it!

  8. if they are cooked well they are safe enough to be eaten.

  9. Depends on where you're from-If you're from the country, your body probably has enough resistance to protect you from germs. I rarely eat roadside foodstuffs when I travel outside my country (except in Singapore where they are extremely hygenic)
