Ross Department stores have asics and new balance running shoes around $30-$40. Are they realiable enough for running? Or I really have to buy the good top of the line ones to improve my running time?

  1. It depends. Sometimes Ross has good running shoes, but you need to make sure that shoe fit YOU. So, unless you find the pair of shoe that you normally train with or similar, I would stay away with them - it is just like beting your luck.

  2. If you are a serious runner and wanting to put in some pretty decent mileage, I would splurge a little bit more on a good pair of running shoes.  Typically runnings shoes sold in department stores are just basic and not very durable for the runner looking to put in heavy mileage.

If you goto www.Eastbay.com, they have a great variety of shoes for very good prices

  3. If you know what you need then go to Ross if they have it but if you have not been tested for a running shoe you should go to the Running Lab and find out what kind of shoe you need for running.  At almost all times i would not advise buying shoes at Ross or any kind of store like that.

  4. Could be, but it is better (especially until you know what works for you) to go to a good running store -- not a sports shoe outlet -- where you should be able to find someone knowledgeable about you needs. Both Asics and New Balance make good shoes, but every runner has different needs. It's best to find someone who knows about running and runners to help you. Once you find something that works you can watch for sales and clearances to save money. Two things you need to know. The most expensive shoes are not always the best for runners. The cheapest shoes are almost always bad for runners!
