  1. Absolutely!  You should at least buy the right type of shoe for your arch type.  If you have a mid to high arch you'll probably need a "cushioning" shoe  If you're flat footed you'll need a different type of shoe.  My advice would be to go to a store that specializes in running shoes.  They'll measure your foot and tell you exactly what type of shoe you'll need.  If you don't want to pay 80 bucks for a shoe, just take the advice and go to a local sporting goods store.

  2. Yes- buy running shoes! They're very important. BUT, you need the CORRECT running shoes- not ones that just look good or feel good or your friend wears! Go to a SPECIALTY running store! All they will sell is running shoes , clothing, etc. They will help you and the shoes you buy will help you get off to a good start and stay strong.

  3. dont buy cheap ones. I did and they did more harm than good. Had to go to the doctor, they hurt so bad. buy a pair thats at least $20, good name, arch support, believe me, it's worth the 20 to 30 bucks.
