Are rvs still prohibited from crossing hoover dam?

need to get to vegas-have a 25' motor home-have heard we can't take

road over hoover dam (construction &/or 9/11)

  1. There is an alternate route for trucks and RVs.

    As you drive north on US-93 towards Las Vegas, exit onto AZ-68 west. Continue to Bullhead City and cross the Colorado River into Laughlin. Continue west on NV-163 to US-95 and then head north to Las Vegas.

    This route is slightly longer in terms of mileage. However, it can be faster in terms of travel time because you avoid the security checks (yes, the RV ban is due to 9/11, not construction) and traffic congestion at Hoover Dam.


  2. The last time I crossed over the Dam (one month ago) they were not allowed. Best bet is to take another route just so you don't waste the time.
