  1. Sailboat engines can be expensive, so a boat without one is cheaper. Depending on the size and design of your sailboat, the power, performance and cost of an auxiliary engine can range from modest to large. With few exceptions such as the McGregor, sailboat hulls are not intended to be driven by  "big iron" engines, so they should not be too expensive. The exceptions are boats that can be made to plane ans you can spend a lot on a big motor.

  2. 2 forms of propulsion and swimming isn't 1of them> What would you do if the wind is blowing you ashore with out a motor to help you> Not a good idea> Have 1 even if your a purest don't have to use it but sure be nice if you needed it>

  3. Surely a lot cheaper and motors vary a lot in cost depending on what you need, inboard, outboard, etc. This is your golden opportunity to size and spend as you see fit but this is a bad time of year to buy, prices are higher in the spring and early summer.
