  1. Here are some points about Salt Water Pools vs. Chlorine Pools :

    1. Salt water is an expense when it is installed, but after that you do not have to add chlorine as salt makes chlorine.

    2. Salt is softer on your skin.

    3. The new salt systems are great, as they monitor and clean themselves.

    4. You also do not have the obnoxious little floater in your pool all the time with salt.

    5. Both systems generate Disinfection By Products (DBP). Both systems are very climate dependent and also vary based on pool usage.

In terms of swimming, no scientific findings has proven that swimming on salt water is better than chlorine water.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Not only that, but sea salt is a natural healer. Anti-bacteria and removes flaky skin. Not sure about pools, but nothing beats swimming in the Riviera with the dolphins when the sun rises.

Sea water is absorbed into the skin and even affects the internal organs into a state of wellbeing.

  3. salt pools are better, ecause it is sea water(salt+water).

    Chiao

  4. Not really since the chlorine amount is so small it would not likely damage your skin or hair.

Salt pools with chlorine generators have the same amounts of chlorine in them as do fully chlorinated pools, 1-3ppm with 5 max.  Actually salt pools use more chemicals than do chlorine pools, Cyanuric Acid 50-70ppm and muriatic acid is used on a regular basis to balance upward pH migration on salt pools.

The chlorine generator portion of the salt water pool requires maintenance to remove calcium deposits that happen even though the unit incorporates polarity reversing or self cleaning.

Lastly they only really last 3 years.

Pay $2500 for 3 years service that can buy a whole lot of chlorine!

Oh, they are not install and forget systems, all need to have chlorine monitored for correct output and you still need your test kit!

Also you will have the same problems with a salt pool as a chlorine pool, red eyes, itchy skin all are indicators of improperly maintained pools with regard to chlorine levels.  Green hair is due to the overuse of copper salts commonly incorporated in most algaecides and not to chlorinated pools.

If it was my money, I would disregard the hype associated with the salt pools and go for a great value, a plain old chlorine pool.

    You're welcome!!
