Question:

Are sample apartments accurate? Or just a bait-and-switch??

I'm starting to do research on finding an apartment, and I'm seeing A LOT of complaints about people being shown a 'sample' apartment (i.e. one always used as a sample or one that just happened to be free at the time), and then once they move in to the apartment complex, they're given an apartment that has a lot of problems that the unit they looked at didn't have (i.e. bugs, mold, broken appliances, noise from large appliances located on the roof right above the unit, etc). The problem is that I want to give myself a few months to locate a place, so the units that will be free when I'm ready to move in might not be available for showing since there will probably still be people currently living in them. Has anyone had these problems before? Any advice/ warnings, ideas/solutions?

  1. The ONLY way to really get what you Think you will get with an apartment  ... is to only rent an apartment that you can go thru and look around / inspect prior to signing the lease ...

"Sample" apartments can be a TRAP .....
