  1. No they are arachnids like spiders and ticks

  2. Scorpions are not insects, they are arachnids, along with ticks, mites, spiders, harvestman, and a few other groups.

Someone corrected with that they are Arthropods.  While that is true, insects are arthropods too.

For your art project on insects, I suggest you look at mantids, walkingsticks, goliath beetles, stag beetles, rhino beetles, moths, butterflies, cicadas, or dragonflies.  They are all very pretty and interesting insects in my opinion, but you can still find other insects that are pretty and interesting.

Yea, like Haysoos said they probably will let you do scorpions anyway, just ask your teacher if it's ok even though they are not insects.

  3. yes they are

  4. No, scorpions are not insects.

They are arthropods - meaning they have an exoskeleton and jointed legs - but they are in a different group of arthropods from the insects.

Insects have six legs, and most have four wings, with three body sections (head, thorax, abdomen).

Scorpions are arachnids, more closely related to spiders, ticks and horseshoe crabs than they are to insects.

However, I can't imagine that an art assignment or project would be that picky about taxonomic semantics.  Unless it's an art project for an entomology course, I would imagine that scorpions would be a perfectly acceptable subject matter for your project.

  5. No, they're arthropods.
