My belly button piercing is a bit infected. I wanted to go to my piercer but since this weeks has been holidays where i live, everything has been closed. I'm planning to go on monday but meanwhile i was wondering, is it 100% benefitial to soak it in sea salt? or could it make it worse?

  1. no i don't think so.cause the salt would burn the flesh

  2. sea salt soaks are the best for new piercings. other things can be too harsh on new piercings. i got my nose pierced recently (just over a week ago) and i've been soaking it 3 times a day and it's healing nicely. don't put too much salt in though, because that can dry out the piercing so it's not easy to heal. just put a quarter of a teaspoon into a smallish cup of boiled water and let it cool and soak your piercing (or dip a cotton wool ball into the water and put it on the piercing) for 5-10 mins. do this 2-3 times every day. :] xx

  3. well thats good thats your going to your piercer and no sea salt isnt good.  Sea salt only helps to speed up the healing process, not clean/disinfect.  Try buying saline solution or Renu contact cleaner. Its got antiseptic to clean it and also has salt in it 2.
