  1. Hello

The seeds are floating is best.

    For eg

Paddy ( Rice),Sesame, Sunflower Seeds,Pumpkin seeds are floating type.

Pepper, Tamarind seeds are sinking type

My Daddy used the following method.

While place seedlings for Paddy. Seeds are tying in Gunny

Bag and kept in Vessel for 2 or 3 days. Then the seeds showed in field for cultivation.

Sunflower seeds are seedlings by Manually dipping in field. When rain falls all the seeds floats.

  2. there are literally thousands of DESIGNS of seeds each serves its purpose the best

Seeds that sink may requires a lot of water to start off

others that float ,use the water, During the rains to move to other places,

Others are like parachutes ,other are drills that drill into the ground.or bullets that stick deep in, as they fall .

    there are many helicopters,

some fall far away from the mother plant (like lettuce) indicating these plants do not well close together .

Whilst onions ,garlic ,leeks fall straight down meaning they live well bunched up

Some are so light (like Eucalyptus) that they move up in to the air currants and can travel around the globe

Marijuana is very clever it uses people to spread them around the globe ,and are also sticky ,so sticking to animal fur will move then along ,like burrs do and many others .

Many seeds are on fruits and only germinate if birds eat them and get deposited in a puddle of manure

There is one tree seed that only germinates if an elephant eats the fruit and they are dropped in a mountain of manure.

take away the elephant and this tree becomes extinct ,which is happening

An example that shows how interrelated all specie of flora and fauna are,

Some seeds like some pines only germinate after forest fires

there is no end to the different designs and the different ways of germination when it comes to seeds .

to ask which are better as you do becomes meaningless if seen in the big picture.

millions of seeds and each knows what is best for their particular plant

millions of years of evolutionary development perfecting the  design to keep the specie going

  3. Seeds are better if they sink

  4. Some seeds naturally float and that is one way that they populate other areas, The coconut is one such example. There seeds naturally sink or are neutral buoyant. It depends on the kind of seeds that you are talking about.

  6. sink. so it could get waters

  8. the faster they are stabilized the more nutrients gets into the seeds and STAYS in the seeds... the sooner it is implanted in roots, the faster the seeds grow... and healthier too!

  9. i don't think it can matter, sunflower and pumpkin family seed are naturally buoyant, morning glory seeds are more solid and may sink. When I start seeds I usually place 2 seeds per planting cup,in the garden seed the seeds watch for germination and replant non germinated areas
