Are serving police officers allowed on the jury service and working in the same area as the defendant lives?

  1. Sorry, Jim.  'tain't so.  A recent Supreme Court decision (a few years ago) stripped that immunity.

    However, in any case where the officer works with any of the witnesses or has some outside knowledge of the defendant, that officer would be excluded.  Just like any other person with outside knowledge of the case would be excluded.


  2. Law enforcement officers do not serve on a jury. They are exempt
