I know my neighbor is on the list it happened 20 years ago I don't know the circumstances of what exactly happened but I was wondering could he get in trouble for bringing his kid to the bus stop and waiting there for the bus to come pick his kid up?

  1. Well, if he is taking his kid to the bus stop it's okay, but if he is like following kids there or standing there for no reason it would be bad.

  2. I think it might depend on whether or not he is still under supervision. We have a neighbor who is on the list for an offense from 8 years ago and he is no longer on probation so legally he is allowed to take & pick his son up from school, attend school functions, etc. Did you look up his exact charge? You should be able to find out. If he's only been convicted of one thing and it was 20 years ago it could have been something like statutory rape (he was 18 & his girlfriend was 15 & her parents got mad, etc). Then I wouldn't be so worried about it.

  3. no he cannot get into trouble call the non emergency police dept. and ask them.

  4. i dont think so if he's their to pick up his kids

  5. It depends. Was he released from prison and told he had to avoid certain places? If not, then he can go where he wants to go. He can go to his kid's school, sporting events, etc.

Is he listed online in a sexual predators database? Is there more info on him?

The reason he is on the list is key. It could be he was 17 years and 1 month old and his girlfriend was 15 years 11 months old and he was charged with statuatory rape because he was 17 and the girl was under 16. There is a guy on the list for my town who had s*x with his underage girlfriend many years ago. He was less than two years older than she was and she consented but legally she wasn't old enough to consent so he's now a s*x offender. He is married and has kids now and was never charged with anything other than sleeping with his high school girl friend.

On the other hand, a friend freaked out when the school bus driver tried to change the school bus stop to the end of their long street ----a s*x offender lives at what would have been the new drop off point for the kids. THAT guy was convicted of molesting little boys TWICE. She called the bus company and explained the situation and they made the bus driver take the route as scheduled.

So while guy #1 wouldn't worry her at all, guy #2 was a BIG concern.

Your job is to find out if the neighbor is a potential problem or someone who doesn't pose a threat.

  6. yes he can..BUT!!..he has to let the police or state know that he's doing it.

  7. I don't know..since it's his kid..

    I'm not sure.

  8. Check with your local authorities for the answer to that questions but must have not been to bad for him to still have his kids and take then to school.

  9. If he is taking HIS kids to the bus stop then I would think no he is not in any violation.

If he were lurking around the bus stop in the bushes with no reason for actually needing to be there then I would think yes.

  10. Yes they are. However, they must be in copliance with the law. You said this happened 20 years ago, by now, it should be settled, and if he never repeated it again, he is allowed to bring his own kid there.

But, if i were you, i would still be watchful and never let your guard down, you never know.

  11. I don't really know about that one

on one hand he is a s*x offender and shouldn't be around kids

on the other hand the state let him have custody of his kid so maybe its been long enough for him to be able to do afew things like that

  12. don't think so unless hes got some sort of restraint order

  13. Well I would think that unless he molested a child the statute of limitations would null his registration as a s*x offender after twenty years.  Check with the local authorities, but don't disclaim his name just yet.  You don't want to ruin the reputation of the guy unnecessarily.  I've seen news stories about guys getting s*x offender status for stuff like statutory rape that has been reversed later.  A person 16 can have consensual relations with a person a year younger and catch a charge.  If you don't know the details don't divulge too much information about the guy.  Do some investigation first.  Details about any felons convictions can be found on the Division of Prisons website in the state the conviction occurred in.

  14. No he can't get into trouble for bringing his children to the bust stop.  As a parent he has every right to be there.  Besides school bus stops are PUBLIC property.  If you don't like it have your children change bus stops.

  15. i think yes, but the law must apply to all

  16. it would depend on what he did.  If he is a child molestor, they usually are not allowed near schools or places where children gather.
